At the base of the Sierra Nevada Foothills resides Flora Bella - a certified organic farm that's been in existence since 1989. "Your soil is probably the most important element in organic farming,” says Farmer James Birch said to Organic Connections. “When I arrived, there hadn’t been herbicides used on it, which would have removed all the native grasses and native plants; so they’re still there today. Sometimes you walk into some of my fields and it looks like they’re just all grasses and weeds—but in between them there are fruits and vegetables growing."
These Santa Rosas are gorgeous; they make the room smell of Jolly Ranchers. Their shelf life, zilch, their flavor compact. Holy stone fruit, this is the jam.
